Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Thousands of dead fish are washing up ashore in Nigeria near the location of a Chevron Corp. rig on fire for the 18th day, said Nnimmo Bassey, executive director of Environmental Rights Action, an affiliate of Friends of the Earth.

“Dead fish are still washing up on the shore which implies that the impact is massive,” he said by phone from Lagos, the commercial capital. “It’s not just restricted to the zone of the fire, it’s a spreading impact.”
