Ireland’s EBS Agrees Accord with Union, Averting Second Strike

February 02, 2012

Feb. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Allied Irish Banks Plc’s EBS Ltd. agreed to pay workers half of the so-called 13th month salary withheld in December, the Unite labor union said.

The accord, which also provides for EBS to contribute 4.8 million euros into the company’s pension scheme, means that a second one-day strike over the issue will not now take place, Unite said in an e-mailed statement.

Some 300 Unite members at EBS will be balloted on the accord, it said.
