February 01, 2012

Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Newmont Mining Corp. and the Peruvian government will set a new start-up date for the construction of a $4.8 billion gold mine after an environmental review is finished, Mining Minister Jorge Merino said.

Protests against the company’s Minas Conga project, which resumed today, “don’t help investment,” Merino told reporters today at the Ministry in Lima.
