China’s Holiday Retail Sales Rise 16.2% on Year, Ministry Says

Jan. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Sales by China’s main retailers and restaurants during the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday rose 16.2 percent from a year earlier to 470 billion yuan, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on its website late yesterday. Sales of clothes, jewelry and food by value jumped 18.7 percent, 16.4 percent and 16.2 percent on year, respectively, the ministry said.
