Jan. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Germany is “flexible” about spending unused European Union aid funds.
At present, money that is allocated to the EU’s structural funds budget and is unspent is returned to member states, whereas it might be better used to create jobs and bolster growth, Merkel told reporters in Berlin today after talks with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
The matter will be discussed by EU leaders at a summit on Jan. 30, she said.
