Greece Hardly Qualifies for New Aid, Merkel Aide Tells Spiegel

Jan. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Greece is failing to implement the administrative, fiscal and economic improvements that are part of the conditions it needs to fulfill to receive fresh aid, senior German coalition lawmaker Volker Kauder is cited as saying in a Spiegel-Online interview.

“We can’t keep giving money without something changing” in Greece, said Kauder, who is the Christian Democrats’ floor leader. To qualify for financial help, Greece’s public finances should possibly be placed under the guardianship of an official from the European Union or euro-area, Kauder said.
