U.S. Consumer Group Warns EU Over Google-Motorola Mobility Deal

Jan. 23 (Bloomberg) -- A U.S. consumer advocate told European Union regulators that they should block Google Inc.’s bid for to buy Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc., citing the search-engine owner’s “monopoly over personal information.”

Consumer Watchdog, based in Santa Monica, California, said it also urged the European Commission to file a formal antitrust complaint against Google “as soon as possible,” according to an e-mailed statement today.
