Jan. 23 (Bloomberg) -- OAO Gazprom, Russia’s natural-gas export monopoly, signed an agreement to double purchases of the fuel from Azerbaijan this year to 3 billion cubic meters.
Purchases will exceed 3 billion cubic meters next year under the addendum to a 2009 contact, the Moscow-based gas producer said today in an e-mailed statement.
Gazprom Chief Executive Officer Alexey Miller and Rovnaq Abdullayev, his counterpart at the State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan, also know as Socar, reached the agreement in December.
