Bundesbank Welcomes German Rescue Fund, Lautenschlaeger Says

January 23, 2012

Jan. 23 (Bloomberg) -- The Bundesbank welcomes the German government’s efforts to revive the country’s Soffin bank rescue fund, Sabine Lautenschlaeger, the central bank’s vice president, said today at a budget committee hearing in Berlin.

Measures to recapitalize systemically-relevant European banks won’t suffice to “tackle the basic problems” facing the sector from the sovereign debt crisis and liquidity guarantees in the law may also restore investor confidence, she said.
