Jan. 18 (Bloomberg) -- The Texas Department of Agriculture said a case of citrus greening was confirmed in a commerical orange grove in San Juan.
The case was also confirmed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, the Texas agency said today in a statement. A portion of Hidalgo County was under temporary emergency quarantine, the agency said.
An insect called the citrus psyllid transmits the bacterial disease that has damaged citrus crops in Florida in the past.
