Russia’s Grain Exports Rise 12% in 11 Months, Barley Gains 8.4%

Jan. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Russia’s grain exports rose almost 12 percent in the first 11 months of last year and barley shipments advanced 8.4 percent, the Federal State Statistics Service said.
About 15.4 million metric tons of grain were shipped, including almost 13 million tons of wheat and blends with rye, the service said in an e-mailed statement today. Barley exports were 1.7 million tons.
Rice exports dropped 6.2 percent to 145,000 tons, sunflower seed exports tripled to 46,900 tons and flour exports jumped 3.3 times to 572,000 tons, according to the statement. Russia imported 1.3 million tons of fresh and frozen meat in the period, up 3.1 percent, it said. Pork imports rose 6.3 percent to 657,000 tons and poultry imports dropped almost 14 percent to 420,000 tons, according to the statement.
