Yuan Should Feature in IMF Special Drawing Rights, Stiglitz Says

January 16, 2012

Jan. 17 (Bloomberg) -- The Chinese yuan should be included in the International Monetary Fund’s Special Drawing Rights, Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz said in a press briefing in Hong Kong today. China’s economic growth is now more “sustainable,” Stiglitz also said.

The SDR is an international reserve asset created by the IMF in 1969. It can be exchanged for freely usable currencies.
