ECB Will Counter ‘Abnormal Market Developments,’ Noyer Says

Jan. 16 (Bloomberg) -- The European Central Bank will move to counter any “abnormal market developments,” ECB Governing Council Christian Noyer said today.

While Standard & Poor’s decision to downgrade nine euro- area countries last week is an “additional challenge” for the region, the 17 nations that share the single currency have the “right strategy” for tackling the debt crisis, Bank of France Governor Noyer said in a speech at an event in Paris.
