Jan. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 9:18 a.m. local time in Taipei.
The Taiex Index fell 0.7 percent to 7,072.25, set for the lowest close in a week.
AU Optronics Corp. (2409 TT) gained 1.9 percent to NT$13.15, set for the biggest increase since Dec. 23. Taiwan’s second-largest flat panel maker and Samsung Electronics Co. agreed to dismiss pending legal actions against each other and sign cross license agreements for patents and products.
E Ink Holdings Inc. (8069 TT) slumped 6.9 percent to NT$35.75, bound for the lowest close since July 1, 2009. The company’s December sales slid 84 percent from a year earlier to NT$365.70 million ($12 million).
HTC Corp. (2498 TT), Asia’s second-largest smartphone maker, retreated 1.6 percent to NT$474.50, set for the lowest close since Dec. 19. Fourth-quarter net income dropped 26 percent from a year earlier to NT$11 billion, HTC said in a statement on Jan. 6.
