Goldman Positive on Corn Short-Term, Favors Soybeans Long-Term

January 09, 2012

Jan. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Goldman Sachs Group Inc. is positive on corn short-term, while soybeans are favored long-term, Jeffrey Currie, head of commodities research, told a conference in London today.

Outlook for weather in Brazil, where soybean plantings are at a “critical point,” is unfavorable and will be the primary driver for soybeans, Currie said. Demand from China and prospects for the crop in the U.S. will also affect the soybeans prices, he said.
