Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- The death toll in the Philippines from a Jan. 5 landslide in a mining town in the southern province of Compostela Valley climbed to 28, Colonel Leopoldo Galon, spokesman of the eastern Mindanao command of the military, said in a mobile phone message today. There are 36 people missing, he said. The government had reported 25 deaths the day the landslide struck.
