Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- The Arab League called again on the Syrian government and armed groups to end violence against civilian demonstrators, withdraw troops from urban areas and release political prisoners.
The League is prepared to resume it observer mission in Syria as long as the government takes steps to abide by the protocol it previously agreed to, the Cairo-based organization said today in a statement handed to reporters in the Egyptian capital.
Arab League leader Nabil el-Araby said today he expects to receive a full report from the monitor mission in Syria on Jan. 19.
