Jan. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The Taiex Index fell 0.2 percent to 7,120.51, snapping three days of gains and reducing the weekly gain to 0.7 percent.
Catcher Technology Co. (2474 TT) surged 6.8 percent to NT$156.50, the highest close since Nov. 23. The casing maker’s December sales more than doubled to NT$2.18 billion ($72 million), it said in a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Elan Microelectronics Corp. (2458 TT) jumped 6.7 percent to NT$27.70, the highest close since Nov. 18. The company and Apple Inc. settled their dispute in a Northern California district court, Elan said in a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Apple is to pay Elan $5 million, it said.
Mediatek Inc. (2454 TT) lost 1.2 percent to NT$278.5. The chip designer’s December sales fell 13.4 percent to NT$4.6 billion from a year earlier, it said in a statement.
