Brazilian Stock Movers: Hypermarcas, Brookfield, OGX Petroleo

Jan. 6 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies are having unusual price changes in Sao Paulo trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 2:20 p.m. local time. Preferred shares are usually the most-traded class of stock.

The Bovespa index gained 0.4 percent to 58,774.15.

Hypermarcas SA (HYPE3 BS) jumped 6.9 percent to 10.05 reais. Banco BTG Pactual SA is in talks to join the controlling block of the consumer goods maker, O Estado de S. Paulo reported, without saying where it got the information.

Brookfield Incorporacoes SA (BISA3 BS) rose 4.4 percent to 5.69 reais. Brazil’s third-largest homebuilder by revenue said contracted sales rose 21 percent to 4.39 billion reais ($2.37 billion) in 2011, surpassing a yearly target.

OGX Petroleo & Gas Participacoes SA (OGXP3 BS) gained 1.5 percent to 13.81 reais. The oil company controlled by billionaire Eike Batista expects to start producing oil on Jan. 28, according to a regulatory filing yesterday.
