U.K. Regulator Says No Fundamental Weaknesses at Nuclear Sites

January 04, 2012

Jan. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Safety checks at U.K. nuclear power plants have identified “no fundamental weaknesses” in design and resilience, the national regulator said today.

Work is underway to improve safety, such as bolstering flood defenses and enhancing coolant supplies, the Office for Nuclear Regulation said in a report today.

The checks were carried out after last year’s Fukushima disaster.
