Paramount Pictures Says It Led Worldwide Box Office in 2011

Jan. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Paramount Pictures, Viacom Inc.’s film division, said it finished 2011 in first place at the global box office, with $5.17 billion in worldwide ticket sales.

The Los Angeles-based studio said it released 16 films domestically during the year and collected $1.96 billion in North America to lead the industry. Foreign sales totaled $3.21 billion, Paramount said in a statement today.
