Jan. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Indonesian trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of 10:31 a.m. in Jakarta.
The Jakarta Composite index rose 0.8 percent to 3,840.27, set for the highest close since Nov. 9.
Energy companies: PT Elnusa (ELSA IJ), an Indonesian oil and gas services company, gained 4.4 percent to 240 rupiah. PT Energi Mega Persada (ENRG IJ), the second-largest, advanced 4.3 percent to 195 rupiah, set for its highest close since Sept. 7. Crude oil futures gained as much as 1.8 percent to $100.57 a barrel in New York.
PT Bumi Resources Minerals (BRMS IJ), a unit of Indonesia’s biggest coal producer, PT Bumi Resources (BUMI IJ), jumped 5.7 percent to 560 rupiah. Bumi Resources is open to “strategic partnering” in Bumi Minerals, Bumi Resources Director Dileep Srivastava said in a mobile-phone text message in response to a query from Bloomberg News. “We are open to such options at the right time,” Srivastava said. Bumi Resources climbed 1.1 percent to 2,225 rupiah.
