Hackers From China Accessed U.S. Chamber Network, Journal Says

Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Hackers in China broke into the the U.S. Chamber of Commerce computer system and had access to everything stored there, the Wall Street Journal reported today.
The hackers may have broken into the Chamber’s network more than a year before they were discovered, the newspaper said, citing two unidentified people familiar with the Chamber’s internal investigation. The attack was cut off in May 2010, it said.
U.S. officials suspect that one of those responsible for the attack was connected to the Chinese government, the newspaper said, citing one of the people. The hackers appeared to have concentrated on four employees focused on Asia policy, and stole six weeks of their emails, according to the newspaper.
The Journal said Chamber staff have seen no sign of harm to the group or its members.
U.S. Chamber of Commerce spokesman J.P. Fielder had no immediate comment when reached today.
