Dec. 20 (Bloomberg) -- The Bank of Canada bought C$990 million ($961 million) of securities for one day in multiple transactions today.
The central bank announced the purchases, aimed to keep overnight lending rates close to its current target of 1 percent, on its website from Ottawa. Earlier, it said it had bought C$620 million of securities through special purchase and resale agreements.
