Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Steve Bernstein has left Oppenheimer Investments Asia Ltd. as its chief executive officer after joining two years ago to expand the company’s business in the region.
Bernstein declined to comment on his plans because of a confidentiality clause in his separation agreement. He said in an e-mailed message he would remain in Hong Kong, where he was based for the unit of the U.S. brokerage.
He said in a Bloomberg Television interview on Sept. 28 that he favored South Korean and Indonesian stocks. South Korea’s Kospi Index has gained 5.8 percent since then, while the Jakarta Composite Index climbed 4.8 percent. The MSCI Emerging- Markets Index has advanced 0.2 percent.
Bernstein was previously with Citigroup Inc.
