Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Russia’s sugar output from domestic sugar beets rose 57 percent to 4.2 million metric tons year-on- year since the season started Aug. 1 until Dec. 12, the country’s Sugar Producers’ Union said.
A total of 74 refineries processed 32.1 million tons of beets to produce that amount of sugar, the union said on its website today. That compares with nine refineries processing the sweetener at this time last year.
