Venezuela Price Regulator Extends Company Registration Period

December 14, 2011

Dec. 14 (Bloomberg) -- The Venezuelan government extended the period transnational and local companies have to register the price of 18 beauty and cleaning products to December 30, according to a resolution published today in the Official Gazette.

President Hugo Chavez’s administration froze prices last month on products including toothpaste, soap and diapers, and ordered companies including Colgate-Palmolive Co., Johnson & Johnson, The Procter & Gamble Co, and Unilever Plc to report their production costs to the government as he seeks to extend price regulations in Venezuela. Initially, companies were given three days to register.
