China Corn Output Rises 8.2% to Record, Grain Center Says

Dec. 14 (Bloomberg) -- China’s corn output, the world’s second-biggest, rose 8.2 percent to a record 191.8 million metric tons this year, the China National Grain & Oils Information Center said in an e-mailed report today.

The output compared with 184.5 million tons the center projected last month. The adjustment was made in line with the preliminary output release by the National Bureau of Statistics on Dec. 2, the center said in a separate report.

The following lists production and area numbers for six major crops. Units are in 1,000 hectares and 1,000 tons:
