Dec. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Verizon Communications Inc. is “very serious” about a potential offer for Netflix Inc., media analyst Porter Bibb said, citing unnamed people inside the telecommunications carrier.

“I am hearing rumblings from inside Verizon that they are very serious about either Netflix or something similar,” Bibb, managing director for Mediatech Capital Partners in New York, said today in a Bloomberg Television interview.

New York-based Verizon, which plans its own streaming video service, is considering an offer for Netflix, the subsription- based DVD and streaming movie-rental service based in Los Gatos, California, Deal Reporter reported earlier today, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
