Dec. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Germany’s Finance Ministry denied a Reuters report that it’s in talks with Commerzbank AG to offer state assistance, saying that communication between the government and the bank doesn’t go beyond “exchange of information.”
“As a stakeholder in Commerzbank the government is in regular contact,” the ministry said in an e-mailed statement. It also referred to Commerzbank Chief Financial Officer Eric Strutz’s comment last week that the Frankfurt-based bank doesn’t plan to take state assistance.
