Euro Treaty Requires Constitutional Amendment: France’s Pecresse

Dec. 11 (Bloomberg) -- French ratification of the euro zone accord reached Dec. 9 requires that France’s constitution be amended to include a law calling for balanced budgets, which is being blocked by the opposition Socialist Party, Budget Minister Valerie Pecresse said.

“I don’t understand the Socialist Party, which is isolating itself from other European parties,” Pecresse, who is also the government spokeswoman, said in a joint interview with i-Tele television and Europe1 radio.
