Chilean Stocks: Pilmaiquen, Quinenco and Sudamericana de Vapores

Dec. 12 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa index fell 0.6 percent to 4,159.94. The MSCI Chile index retreated 1.5 percent to 2,273.97.

Cia. Sudamericana de Vapores SA (VAPORES CC) lost 3.6 percent to 106.93 pesos, a record low. Latin America’s largest container shipping company announced Dec. 9 it plans to sell 5.87 billion new shares at 20.45 cents or 104 pesos each to help shore up its finances.

Empresa Electrica Pilmaiquen SA (PILMAIQ CC) rose 2.4 percent to 2,120 pesos, its seventh day of gains and with volume more than seven times the average of the last three months. The power generator has called for an extraordinary shareholder vote for Dec. 23 to elect a new board after a petition from those who own more than 10 percent of the company’s stock, according to a statement published Dec. 7 on the website of the Santiago stock exchange.

Quinenco SA (QUINENC CC) fell 0.2 percent to 1,298 pesos, its third day of losses. The holding company owned by Chile’s Luksic family plans to sell 200 million new shares at 1,250 pesos each in a rights offering from Dec. 20 through Jan. 18.
