Dec. 9 (Bloomberg) --Canada’s Competition Bureau will review the proposed acquisition of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. by Rogers Communications Inc. and BCE Inc., a spokeswoman for the bureau said.

“I can confirm that the Competition Bureau will be reviewing the proposed merger,” senior communications officer Alexa Keating said in an e-mail.

She added that the bureau “has a mandate to review mergers to determine whether they are likely to result in a substantial lessening or prevention of competition.”
