Australia Newcastle Thermal Coal Rises 0.2% to $111.53 a Ton

Dec. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Power-station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, an Asian benchmark, rose 0.2 percent in the week ended today.

Coal prices at the New South Wales port advanced to $111.53 a metric ton from $111.29 the previous week, according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index.

Xstrata Plc, the world’s largest exporter of power-station coal, BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group are among mining companies that ship coal through Newcastle.
