China Says Foreign Trade Still Unbalanced, Energy Intensive

Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) -- China’s foreign trade is still unbalanced and has “unsustainable” elements, according to a white paper released by the government in Beijing today.

Export growth is still energy and resource intensive and shipments have “insufficient” technology and innovation content, according to the document, released ahead of a briefing.

China will foster new competitive advantages centering on technology, branding, quality and services and will work to promote industrial transformation and upgrading, the paper said.

The government will “vigorously” develop trade in services to promoted balanced development with trade in goods, it said.
