Nov. 28 (Bloomberg) -- The German parliament’s budget committee backed the guidelines for strengthening the euro area’s rescue fund.
Chancellor Angela Merkel’s coalition and the opposition Greens backed the measure in a vote today, Norbert Barthle, the budget spokesman in parliament for Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union party, said in an e-mailed statement. The opposition Social Democrats abstained and the opposition Left party voted against the measure, he said.
A vote in the full lower-house isn’t required.
