Nov. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Nov. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Vietnam, the world’s second-biggest rice exporter, may ship 400,000 metric tons this month, according to figures released today from the General Statistics Office in Hanoi, 20 percent less than in the same period last year.
The nation exported 450,000 tons in October, latest figures from the Statistics Office show, unchanged from a previous forecast. Exports in the first eleven months of 2011 were estimated at 6.78 million tons, up 6.2 percent from a year earlier.
Vietnam exported 497,000 tons in November last year according to preliminary GSO data.
