November 17, 2011

Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma and his Congolese counterpart Joseph Kabila will on Nov. 12 preside over the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the Grand Inga hydropower project.

The agreement will allow Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd., South Africa’s state-power utility, and Snel, Congo’s electicity company, to enter an agreement, the South African presidency said in an e-mailed statement today.

Grand Inga has the potential to ultimately produce 40,000 megawatts of power from plants on the Congo river.
