American Eagle Outfitters Names Robert Hanson of Levi’s as CEO

November 15, 2011

Nov. 15 (Bloomberg) -- American Eagle Outfitters Inc., the teen-apparel chain with 937 stores in the U.S. and Canada, named Robert Hanson as chief executive officer, effective Jan. 30.

Hanson, 48, joins American Eagle from Levi Strauss & Co., where he recently served as president of its Levi’s brand, the Pittsburgh-based company said today in a statement. He replaces current Chief Executive Officer Jim O’Donnell, who is retiring after heading the company since 2002.

“I am truly thrilled with the opportunity to lead AEO through the next phase of growth and leverage its extensive assets,” Hanson said in the statement. He was also named a member of the board.

American Eagle fell less than 1 percent to $13.64 today in New York. The shares have declined 6.8 percent this year.
