Nov. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Europe is “at war” with the financial markets, which have gained influence over political decisions amid governments’ failure to tackle rising debt, French Agriculture Minister Bruno Le Maire said today.
“Some have decided that the euro would be finished in a few weeks and that the states would no longer have the sovereignty they enjoyed before,” the minister said in an interview broadcast on Europe 1’s website. “We should not kid ourselves. We are at war.”
Le Maire also said that the government changes in Italy and Greece are “good news” and that there is a prospect of overcoming the debt crisis in Europe.
