Germany Ready to Help Papademos Carry Out Tasks, Merkel Says

November 11, 2011

Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Chancellor Angela Merkel said Germany will support Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos in his task of overhauling the country, according to a message to Papademos released by the German government.

Papademos faces “great hopes and expectations” and his government will have to undertake “reform measures quickly to lead Greece out of the current crisis,” Merkel said in the congratulatory note sent to the Greek unity government leader.

“Germany will stand by you and the Greek people in the difficult mastering of the common challenges in Europe and the euro zone,” Merkel said in the letter.
