U.S. Decision ‘Imminent’ on Probing China Solar-Dumping Claim

November 09, 2011

Nov. 9 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. government is close to deciding whether to launch an investigation into complaints by solar equipment makers led by the American unit of SolarWorld AG that Chinese rivals are waging unfair competition to dump photovoltaic panels, an official said today.

“A decision is imminent,” Francisco J. Sanchez, undersecretary of commerce for international trade, said in an interview in Hyderabad, India. Sanchez also called on India to open its solar market to foreign competition, saying it should lift rules that require projects to obtain some of their equipment from local suppliers.
