Papandreou Has Votes to Win Confidence Motion; Voting Continues

November 04, 2011

Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Prime Minister George Papandreou secured a majority of lawmakers in a confidence motion, overcoming a rebellion within his ruling party over his aborted plan to hold a referendum that threatened to push Greece to the brink of default.

Papandreou garnered the support of at least 151 lawmakers needed to win the vote, according to a provisional tally in parliament in Athens today.
