Oct. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp., the largest software maker, will see its Windows Phone operating system capture a 12 percent share of smartphone sales in western Europe next year, according to research by Strategy Analytics.
Sales of smartphones in Western Europe will reach 117 million units next year, compared with 105 million in 2011, said the research company in an e-mailed statement today.
Microsoft Windows Phone will be the fastest growing platform next year, doubling its share of the eestern European smartphone market, helped by increased distribution and marketing support from hardware partners including Nokia Corp., Samsung Electronics Co. and HTC Corp., said Tom Kang, director at Strategy Analytics, in an e-mailed statement today.
