Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are at 9:26 a.m. in Taipei.
The Taiex Index fell 0.6 percent to 7,544.88, set for the biggest drop since Oct. 20.
Chimei Innolux Corp. (3481 TT) dropped 1.6 percent to NT$12. Taiwan’s largest maker of liquid-crystal displays said its third-quarter net loss widened to NT$17.3 billion ($576 million) from NT$3.6 billion a year earlier, according to Bloomberg calculations based on nine-month data filed by the Miaoli, Taiwan-based company to the exchange. The average of 14 analyst estimates was for a loss of NT$9 billion.
Compal Electronics Inc. (2324 TT) lost 2.3 percent to NT$27.15. The world’s second-largest laptop maker said net income slumped 43 percent to NT$2.17 billion, missing the NT$3.5 billion average of 11 analysts estimates polled by Bloomberg.
HTC Corp. (2498 TT) dropped 4.7 percent to NT$654, set for the lowest close since Sept. 27. The smartphone maker expects sales of up to NT$135 billion this quarter, compared with analyst estimates for NT$150 billion. Shipments will be as much as 13 million units, less than the median estimate for 13.5 million.
