Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Tohru Sasaki, head of Japan rates and foreign-exchange research at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Tokyo, was chosen as a top currency fundamentals analyst in an annual survey by J-Money, a Japanese financial magazine.
Sasaki, who moved up from third place last year, was followed in the ranking by Osamu Takashima, chief currency strategist at Citigroup Inc. in Tokyo. Minori Uchida, a senior analyst at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd., and Atsushi Kobayashi, head of foreign-exchange sales at BNP Paribas in Tokyo, were tied for third.
J-Money, previously known as the Japanese version of the Euromoney magazine, based the ranking on an August survey of 797 institutional investors in the Tokyo foreign-exchange market. The ranking was published in its Autumn 2011 edition.
The top financial firms in terms of currency trading were Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, No. 1 for a sixth-straight year, followed by Mizuho Financial Group Inc., Deutsche Securities Inc., JPMorgan Chase and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.
