Ethiopia Adjourns Swedish Reporters’ Court Case Amid Poor Video

November 01, 2011

Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- An Ethiopian court hearing terrorism charges against two Swedish journalists was adjourned because video evidence presented by the prosecution was inaudible, said Judge Shemsu Sirgaga.

Martin Schibbye and Johan Persson were detained in early July in Ethiopia’s Ogaden region. The case will continue tomorrow with a plan to show about one hour of video, said Abebe Balcha, a member of the defense team.

On Oct. 20, Persson and Schibbye pleaded guilty to entering the country illegally and not guilty to terrorism charges.
