Oct. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Ukraine’s output of refined sugar increased by about 34 percent as of Oct. 28 from a year earlier, according to Ukrtsukor, the country’s sugar producers’ association.
Refined output rose to 1.27 million metric tons compared with 950,700 tons, Ukrtsukor wrote today in an e-mailed statement.
Refiners processed 9.85 million tons of sugar beets as of Oct. 28, compared with 8.28 million tons. About 15.5 million tons were harvested from 435,500 hectares (1.07 million acres), or 81 percent of the planted area, according to the Kiev-based group.
