U.S. Stocks Pare Losses Amid Gains in Technology, Energy Shares

Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks pared losses as commodity and technology shares rallied amid better-than- forecast earnings from companies including Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Merck & Co.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index fell 0.1 percent to 1,283.38 at 10:39 a.m. New York time, after declining as much as 0.6 percent earlier. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1.62 points, or less than 0.1 percent, to 12,206.93.
