Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- The Labour Party’s Michael Higgins, is “pretty much certain” to win the Irish presidential election, Deputy Prime Minister Eamon Gilmore said in an interview with RTE.

Higgins, a former Labour Party minister, looks set to top the polls based on tallies across all 43 constituencies, Dublin based broadcaster RTE said on its web site. Tallies in two Dublin constituencies showed Higgins taking about 40 percent of the vote, while Sean Gallagher, who had led in the polls before the election, was at less than 30 percent, according to RTE.
